August 4, 2021

The Messiah Lifeways Board of Directors is pleased to announce that, after a thorough executive search process and unanimous vote, Karl J. Brummer has been named the next President & CEO of Messiah Lifeways. Karl’s commitment, vision, and expertise make him the best person suited to lead this organization into the future. Please join us in enthusiastically welcoming him into his new role on September 13, 2021.

“Over the past 125 years, Messiah Lifeways’ leaders have acted courageously to expand services for older adults, and I look forward to continuing this legacy of innovation and growth. The opportunity to expand our mission and lead this organization and its dedicated team members into a new season is an incredible honor.”

— Karl J. Brummer

Prior to his tenure as Senior Vice President at Messiah Lifeways overseeing Human Resources, Community Support Services, and Life Enrichment, Karl served as Senior Executive Vice President at Cross Keys Village and held several executive-level Human Resources positions at public and privately held corporations. He has also served as an adjunct professor in Human Resources at Elizabethtown College and Messiah University, and holds a B.S. in Human Resource Management from Messiah University and an MBA from Kutztown University.

Over the past seven years, Karl has been instrumental in helping Messiah Lifeways develop its strategic priorities, encouraging a culture of collaboration, and has demonstrated a deep commitment to the organization. His ability to develop authentic relationships with team members and residents as well as to build unique partnerships with external stakeholders is a strong asset that will carry him well into this new role.

We extend our appreciation to outgoing president, Curt Stutzman, who will stay with the organization through the end of September to complete outstanding projects and help make the transition as smooth as possible.
