SUPPLIES
- Beads in assorted colors and sizes,
based on your preference - Green floral wire
- Wire cutters
- Pliers
- Small plant pot (3–5 inches)
- Floral foam
- Brown craft paint
- Kitchen knife
- Toothpick
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Shape the Floral Foam
Turn the pot upside down on the floral foam and trace the opening with a toothpick. Use a kitchen knife to carefully carve the foam to fit snugly inside the pot, testing the fit and trimming as needed.
2. Paint the Foam
Before placing the foam in the pot, paint the top brown to resemble soil, covering about 3/4 inch down the sides. Set the foam aside and allow the paint to dry completely.
3. Cut and Loop the Wire
Cut a piece of wire 3–6 inches long and use pliers to curl one end into a small loop. This loop will hold the beads in place at the top of the stem.
4. Add and Secure the Beads
Thread beads onto the wire in any pattern you like, placing your favorite bead first since it will become the tip of the stem. Once you reach your desired length, insert the loose wire end back through the bottom of the top bead and pull tight to secure the beads, then trim the wire, leaving 1–2 inches at the bottom.
5. Repeat to Create Multiple Stems
Make 20–30 beaded stems in varying lengths to create a full, natural look. Use different beads and wire lengths to add variety and visual interest.
6. Insert the Foam into the Pot
Place the painted foam into the potonce it is fully dry, gluing it in place if needed to keep it secure.
7. Arrange the Beaded Stems
Insert the beaded stems into the foam, starting in the center and working outward. Gently bend and adjust the wires until the arrangement looks balanced and natural.
8. Customize and Display
Personalize your plant by using taller wires and a larger pot for a statement piece, or choosing glass beads for sparkle or wood beads for a natural look. Display your finished plant on a windowsill, shelf, or coffee table.
