Terry Barley Champions of Better Health Award

Cumberland County Director Wins Award

Messiah Lifeways Community Support Services directors Megan Stedjan & Geli Losch nominated Terry Barley, Director of Aging & Community Services for Cumberland County, for a 2015 Champions of Better Health Award. On Monday, June 8 at a reception at Dickinson College, Barley was named the winner in his category, Professional of the Year. The Champions of Better Health Award is sponsored by Carlisle-area foundation, Partnership for Better Health. According to their website, the 2015 Champions for Better Health is intended to recognize distinguished community volunteers, health care providers, business leaders, philanthropists and youth whose work plays a vital role in advancing the health and wellness of our region. Barley, a long-time public servant and advocate, was nominated by Messiah Lifeways primarily because of his outstanding partnership with our 2 senior centers in Mechanicsburg and Shippensburg.

In her letter of support, Messiah Lifeways team member Geli Losch shared this thought, “He is clearly well respected among his colleagues at various other agencies as well as among those at the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. Many professionals seek has input. I’ve enjoyed hearing his creative solutions to significant budget changes when he’s had to cut costs while causing the least amount of disruption to his team and those neighbors they serve.”

Congratulations, Terry, and thanks to the team at Partnership for Better Health for helping our community be active and well!
