Q: WHAT LEAD YOU TO THE SENIORLIVING INDUSTRY?
A: I was close with both my grandmothers growing up and lost them both at a relatively young age. Losing them opened my heart to serving older adults. I studied early education as an undergraduate and taught for a few
years, but when I lost my second grandma, the pull became stronger. I began working at the retirement community that she lived in after she passed away, and it brought such a sense of meaning and purpose to my life.
Q: WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
A: My family is my greatest inspiration. I love the work I do because of my family—first because of my grandmothers, and now because of my husband and my children. I have a big heart for others, and that’s rooted
in my family.
Q: WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT NOT EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU?
A: I am a bit of a video game nerd. I am not well versed in modern video games, but I like the classics like Super Mario Bros. and Pac-Man, so arcades are a fun throwback for me.
Q: WHAT SHOW OR BOOK ARE YOU CURRENTLY ENJOYING?
A: My go-to show is “Law & Order.” Contrary to the nature of my work, I enjoy the crime and action. I’m also rereading the “Little House on the Prairie” series, which I haven’t read since childhood, and the history buff
side of me is enjoying the 19th century pioneer life storyline.
Q: WHAT IS A MANTRA THAT IS MEANINGFUL TO YOU?
A: It’s a lyric from the John Lennon song “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)”: Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. That line has proven true throughout my life and reminds me to appreciate all that I’ve been blessed with today.
Q: IF YOU WERE TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A: Trustworthy. I try to live with integrity every day, making choices that honor both my values and the people around me. Doing the right thing is important to me.
Q: WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR LEGACY TO BE?
A: I hope that the work I do and the person I am leave a positive impact on others. I want people to know that my efforts came from the right place and that I was there with and for them.
