Messiah Lifeways® Receives Zero Deficiencies During Annual DOH Survey

At the end of June, Messiah Lifeways received zero health deficiencies during its annual Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) survey, a significant achievement that reflects the organization’s commitment to providing exceptional care for older adults.

A deficiency-free survey means no health deficiencies were identified during the state’s comprehensive inspection process. Nationally, only an estimated 5% of nursing homes achieve this distinction.

“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and professionalism our team demonstrates every day,” said Ashli Hudack, Nursing Home Administrator at Messiah Lifeways. “Providing exceptional care requires consistency, compassion, and attention to detail from every member of our team.”

The annual DOH survey evaluates nursing homes on a wide range of standards related to resident care, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Because the survey is so comprehensive, most nursing homes receive an average of 9-10 deficiencies. Earning zero health deficiencies demonstrates a high level of consistency and excellence across all areas of care.

“This truly was a One Team effort,” said Kim Butler, Vice President of Health Services at Messiah Lifeways. “While Nursing is at the center of the survey process, every department plays a role in creating a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for our residents. This zero-deficiency status is a testament to the collaboration, hard work, and shared commitment of our entire organization.”

Messiah Lifeways is grateful to every team member whose commitment helped make this achievement possible and to the residents and families who place their trust in the organization every day. Serving older adults with Christ-like love and providing a safe, caring place to call home remains at the heart of everything we do.

“It’s such an honor to do what we do and to serve older adults and be part of a greater mission. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment,” Butler said.
