Please continue reading for updated visit protocol.

What should I know before I visit?

All visitors must enter and exit through the Village Center main entrance and be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure risks before proceeding through the building to your visit. Masks are still required while in Village Center regardless of vaccination status.

  • You or anyone in your household is feeling ill, has a fever, is showing any signs or symptoms of illness, or is awaiting COVID-19 test results

  • You have been exposed to a person with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 within the last 14 days

  • You have traveled using mass transit within the last 7 days and are not vaccinated

Visits may occur at any time.

There is no limit to the number of visitors, however you must be able to maintain physical distancing -- if there will be more than two visitors and your loved one resides in a semi-private room, please discuss alternative visit locations with the neighborhood social worker.

Visitors over the age of 2 may visit; however, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to make sure children comply with infection control protocol.

Please be flexible.

Only residents who reside in neighborhoods that are “green” can receive visits.

Neighborhoods are ‘green’ when there have been no new cases of COVID-19 in both team members who’ve recently worked in the neighborhood and residents who reside there within the past two weeks. Unfortunately, this status can change at a moment's notice based on positive test results. We will make every effort to contact you if a change needs to be made prior to your scheduled visit and will keep the website updated with which neighborhoods are currently eligible for visits.

During your visit

Visitors must remain masked at all times, and residents must remain masked as much as possible. A procedure mask will be provided to all visitors at the main entrance to provide added protection. Please do not eat together or participate in any activity that would require you to remove your mask, especially while the transmission rate in Cumberland County remains high.

  • You may visit with your loved one wherever you choose.
  • If the resident is fully vaccinated, they can choose to have close contact (including touch) with their visitor while wearing a well-fitting face mask and performing hand-hygiene before and after.
  • Please maintain a 6ft distance from all other residents and team members at Messiah Village.
  • You may now visit in your loved one's room

Suggestions for your visit

CB-suggest-1c
Think ahead about family or community news or topics your loved one would be interested in hearing about, their activities are limited and they may not have as much to share with you as you have to share with them. Be prepared to carry the conversation.
Bring pictures or photo albums of family members: the team member or volunteer helping with your visit can pass the item to the resident. One spouse brought a grandchild’s new senior pictures to share, another some photos of a trip they had taken together years ago.
Bring a craft item you might be working on. One spouse was painting intricate designs on rocks and brought them to show her husband.
Consider bringing a non-homemade food or drink that would be special for your loved one to enjoy when they return to their neighborhood (food cannot be consumed during the visit).
Think ahead about sharing some “I remember moments/stories” reframing “Do you remember when” statements.
Bring cards or drawings from grandchildren or other loved ones who are not able to visit.
Consider praying with your loved one.
